Suggestions / Re: Harec cannot melee while reloading
 on: November 02, 2018, 09:28:42 PM
I play a lot of Harec (fite me), and it's a valid concern.

First off, if I take a shot at a distant enemy, zoom out, and there's a shotgunner while I'm stuffing another bullet in? I get to pull a squirrel with my cover... if I even can.  Some places are too open or too compressed, or there are simply too many guys swarming the area from every angle.

Second, Harec and Shae can and will remain quite possibly the worst in melee, unless you count corner pouncing.  Their total HP and resistance ensure this.  Their Stress Meter is there basically for show as a balance, meaning they can shift position unmolested of they're good enough.  Until they pull the trigger... Then everyone knows where they are, and now they can't defend themselves because they're reloading.

Third, I'm gimped in helping teammates.  This makes the game harder for YOU, too. I have to decide if I'm going to take a shot at a group of three encroaching me and my teammate, or jump into a 3-on-2 melee fight. I can't take the shot, kill one with it, then jump in and make the melee fight not terrible for that teammate.  It's take the shot, or take the melee risk.  Combine that with the above "they are the worst at melee."  I'd really like to be able to help that teammate completely rather than having to choose rock and hard place.

My 2 cents is to interrupt the reload, as it says.  You'll have to start the reload entirely over again if you interrupt it with a melee move.  For Shae, it'd interrupt the vent.  With Shae, too, it could actually provide some meta based on her weapon pressure (some weapons perform better with higher pressure, so players could actually manipulate this to improve her performance there).

Suggestions / Re: "Active" Aleph card ability?
 on: November 01, 2018, 02:58:30 AM
The more read it, the more I like it. Now the Antagonist burning their aleph on purpose to remove Aleph stacks from play to delay Raiders, I honestly don't see what's wrong with that. That's what the Antagonist supposed to do. It would help them on certain maps where Raiders need Aleph to continue and there's not a Dead Drop for an Antagonist to suicide to prevent them from killing them and taking the Stacks back and/or no real interactions the Antagonist can do with Objectives to counter what the Raiders are doing.

That's one of the things that makes it work, too.  The antagonist themselves hands out an Aleph stack when killed, and themselves gain an Aleph stack on killing raiders.  That means there will always be an Aleph stack available to acquire somewhere, for both sides, fueling the powers as well.

Simply, a button that burns a charge of Aleph you've acquired to activate your chosen loadout cards at 5-stack level for a short amount of time.

Having a full 5-stack is rare enough from what I've seen.  Between having to earn it from elites, having to acquire it before fellow players do, glowing like an x-mas tree to enemies, and then having to dump it into objectives anyway, seeing a full five stack for more than a minute or two is an outlier scenario from my experience.  I understand it's supposed to be rare, and you become a massive target the more you have, but even single stacks trade hands (or is lost) too much to really feel significant other than "the objective resource."  The powers we're supposed to get from it are incredibly short lived, if ever seen during any match.  The elite troops get to burn it, too- why don't the players?  I understand the core "powers" that player characters get, but those things feel inherent to them, and not really like a "power."

Adding the capacity to burn a charge for your boosts would enable players and antagonists to use the buffs much more often, while adding a resource balance necessity to the game.  Do you burn the charge defending a guy dumping his 4-stack into the objective?  Do you dump yours into a different node instead, making things go faster?  Will the antag bust out some 200% boost to strike damage, only to get stopped cold by a teammate that burned aleph to give himself stupid health regen for a few seconds?

The problems I can forsee with this is players (the antag especially) burning charges intentionally to make the objectives harder to accomplish. The only thing I can think of to alleviate this is to add cooldowns to "aleph burning," which would have to be fairly significant to avoid intentional overuse.

Thoughts?

Suggestions / Re: Option for no antagonist
 on: October 29, 2018, 09:59:59 PM
I do enjoy the antag system. I don't really try hard as antag though, and instead just make myself a sort of mini-boss to be dealt with here and there occasionally.  It's fun to actually play it like the bastard that shows up to be a problem, not a team-wiper, and still get rewards out of it.  However, it definitely has it's issues.

IF YOU LOOK AT NOTHING ELSE, DEVS, LOOK AT THIS:
MENTOR MATCHES/BELOW LEVEL 10 MATCHES NEED TO BE IMMUNE TO ANTAGONIST INVASION.  FOR F*CK'S SAKE THESE NEWBS CAN'T EVEN PUT THEMSELVES IN THE ANTAG POSITION!

FIX THE LEVEL/MMR SPREAD BETWEEN WHAT MISSIONS ANTAGS ARE ALLOWED TO INVADE- DO NOT LET THEM INVADE MORE THAN 50 LEVELS 20% APART. FOR F*CK'S SAKE, LET THESE BEHEMOTHS FIGHT EACH OTHER INSTEAD OF THE LEVEL 5'S, YOU'RE PUTTING CHIHUAHUAS AGAINST GODZILLA

My first problem with the Antagonist system is the fact it can land in the lap of newbies that have absolutely no idea what the heck is going on, and no gear to deal with it. I mean that in the strict sense- I'm in a mentor match, and the level 1's-9's suddenly see "level 292 antagonist has invaded your mission!"?  They cannot even interact with the antagonist system themselves until level 10, and may not even be informed of it until then.  How is this in any way fair to the new player, OR the teammates playing with the new guy? What if it's a non-mentor team full of sub-10's against this guy?

The game is hard enough in most cases, and trying to get friends to play more of it past lvl 8 or 9 is like pulling teeth.  Tossing an antagonist several hundred levels higher into a game, with late-game characters, stats, and fully upgraded rare weapons that have lethal abilities... It's throwing newbies against the wall like waterballoons full of blood.  I can easily see people going "THIS is what the game is like? To hell with it."

That leads me to the other main problem I have, is the level/MMR spread of antag/raider pairings.  Most antags I've seen vastly outlevel basically anyone else I've ever seen playing- most, that is. This means the same problems as listed above befall the other people playing- the game god decides to pair you with someone that's got free selection in an arsenal of characters, skills, and weapons, vs. you at level 50, whom doesn't even have half what the game could offer because of the gold and blueprint grind.  The best games I've had with antagonists is when they're largely even playing field.  That accounts for 2 of the antag games I've had.  Every one of the others went one of three ways:
1) The antag was lowbie and had bad enough stats they were like fighting a mook, sometimes easier because of the MMR difficulty stuff
2) The antag one shots entire groups of people with things like Loaht's cluster grenades, and annihilates the team before second mission phase (any mission).
3) We had a level 200+ on our team that had absolutely devastating firepower which wiped out the antag instantly every time.

There was one outlier with a lvl 300+ Harec. Guys aim was *insane.*

Still, the gear grind/level advantage is absolutely a real thing, and it's the main reason the antagonist system is an eyeroll mechanic at this point.

Heya. The patch you put out recently to 1.3 on ps4 seems to have completely fixed the issue.  Thanks!  I can slap some people around again with grapples and totally not get destroyed by lvl 100+ antags.

Bug report & Technical Support / Re: "Initiating Mission" Lockout ps4
 on: September 25, 2018, 09:32:27 AM
Even futher update:
I was able to do 2 matches.
1 I was able to select a character.
the second I was "initating mission" locked as usual. When I returned I was allowed to return to gameplay and join the match, but not select a character as I was far outside that selection window, having to quit completely and reboot via playstation button.  I was "given" Hans on a mentor match. Didn't care, got to play.

Currently stuck again on initiating mission.  For entirely arcane reasons where even the most eclectic solutions, such as changing language options, have no effect.  Yes, this is after router stuff.

I'm sitting here, about to get punished by your code again, for trying to join, rejoin, rejoin, rejoin, rejoin, and further rejoin a game.

And there is still no answer for it.

additional because I can't find the edit button, or there simply isn't one:

Still can't play after further testing.  Lock out at "initiating mission."  I went ahead and employed some friends to test it.

Not only can I not play your game, everyone on my friends list willing to give it a go gets stuck on "initiating mission" and has to force quit via playstation button.  Same issue as above.

I have swapped/reset routers.
I've restarted.
I've reinstalled.
I've completely flushed my IP and reset it.
I've tested other games, and none of them have any issue, and are in fact running slightly faster than usual after the IP renew.

What the hell did you do to the netcode, guys?

I don't wanna blame you, but as Lycus would say: "Holy fuck, what the fuck man?"

Posted in another post because reasons:
I got rewards for games 3 hours after the fact I never got to join them. They were obviously lost (judging by reward amounts), but that I never participated in them, because the game endless looped before I could even pick a character.
it's free stuff for the most part, but I don't like it. I'd much rather play for the things I'm rewarded/got my butt kicked by a decent antag over. Please fix this.

PS: the preview button in the forum isn't working.
what the hell, guys.

Bug report & Technical Support / "Initiating Mission" Lockout ps4
 on: September 25, 2018, 12:41:41 AM
Details:
I played for an hour or so on ps4, turned off for a while. When I came back to it a few hours later, I got stuck on an "initiating mission" loading screen playing as raider, before even getting to the character select screen.  It hung there, and the loading icon continued to flip as if it were loading, could still move the pointer around, and screen still shifted about. Waited. Waited.  Got 5 minutes in and quit, then came back.

It stays there on every match now, regardless of mission. I can't get to the select screen.  I get further locked out because the game considers me to have "participated" in the game, and sees fit to punish me for "quitting early." If I quit the game completely, and return to it, it allows me to attempt to rejoin... Then stuffs me back into "initiating mission,' where it endless loops again, until the match is over and I get punished again.  I'm on the fourth game I've attempted to join, in a row, where I'm stuck on "initiating mission" and then getting stuffed in the naughty corner for being unable to join, despite trying.  Not only is it unplayable- I'm being actively punished by the MMR and the "don't be garbage and quit early" code.

The only thing I can see that might've caused this was I was level 31 when I took a hiatus.  The final level of one of the mission sets was locked at 32, and when I came back, you guys had lowered the requirements, so it opened up for me.

I love the game, but unless this is fixed I outright can't play it.

The first Antagonist that beat my pub team was a 109 Harec.
Won my first Antagonist match with lvl 30 Harec.
However, they had a lvl 1 Harec.  He was also the last man standing because I didn't feel right murdering a lvl 1.  I got over it and hit grapple while he wasn't paying attention.

That doesn't change the key point, however. Never pick Harec if you're new.
Never.

Spacelords’ Advice / Re: Baby Harecs
 on: September 07, 2018, 05:04:08 AM
New here. Thought it was a meme.  Now that I'm a level 30, I stand corrected.  I'm instantly wary of anyone that plays a Local (even myself, trying to main the Locals faction).

My worst experience with a sniper, however, has got to be the Shae of my last game.  Never saw her fire her gun once, punched everything, missed/got countered by every throw I saw her attempt, ignored engineers, and once she was five-stacked from getting a corner ambush on the 5-stack antag, completely ignored restarting Schneider a minimum of 3 times (that I saw) while I buzzed her with team speak icons.  Literally ran circles around him within 10 feet, then gave the five-stack back to the antag because she could only take two hits. This was on double agent, and she was the highest level person there.

A level 1 and a level 3 knew to restart Schneider, and had done so twice without instruction.

I'm sorry for doubting you.

Bug report & Technical Support / [ps4]Incorrect Punishment Bug?
 on: September 07, 2018, 04:47:36 AM
Me and another player suffered two desertions in the match, one right as the match started, then one five minutes later with a lvl 1 simply ditching. We fought to the end (lost of course because the enemies don't scale back), but both got 1200 gold and faction for losing, as we got 600 of each for the desertions.  He misses his blueprint (too bad).

Then, instead of getting to claim rewards, I got "you deserted your last multiplayer match and must wait a few minutes before you reconnect."

I got punished for desertion by... Playing the match to the end?

As Schneider would put it, "What... What the f---? What am I doing here?"
