This entire thread in a nutshell: The most toxic guy on this forum calls out the second most toxic guy on this forum for calling him out on how toxic he is in other threads.

2
One of the reasons I'll quit a game while in the game lobby is because of a raider in my team, who's toxic. As the title suggests, is it possible to create a block mechanic, to filter out players in matchmaking you don't want to play with. There's nothing worse than having players messaging you, spewing vitriol, only to find them in your team in the future. You really don't want to help these people, let alone play with.

Moreso, this game mechanic, if implemented properly, would 'clean up' the gaming community. Toxic players will find themselves being blocked so many times, eventually, the only games they'll be playing will be the solos.

Why do you even care so much at this point if you're just threatening to quit the game like 10 times a day every single day? Seems like at this point you're just using this forum as your personal message board to spam whine on and threaten to quit or directly insult the devs. I'm not in any way shape or form supporting the decisions MSE has made with this game but at some point you're just being childish and need to just calm down and stop spamming all day long.

… If everyone has antagonist turned off …

Ha, if everyone (or most) of the players would disable a feature in a video game, then it's probably obvious not the most popular feature, right? And should not a developer be guided by the majority of players to be successful? Well, is Spacelords successful?

Hey man quit being such a downer just look at the monthly player statistics on Steam! There's like a whole 50ish people online concurrently during peak hours and if you include console numbers that's probably like 100 maybe even 110 people! Plenty of games have survived numbers that low and went on to be successful like uhh...well...let me get back to you on that one.

How does it not make sense? You get more rewards for a harder challenge... MSE wants to have Spacelords to be a PvEvP game and that is what the game is. Having people whine and complain about losing missions just because from an antagonist is just annoying. MSE already made losing not even a penalty. All the gold, talent points, and xp you don't gain goes to the pot.

People keep saying how they want more gold, less antagonist, weaker enemies then once all that is part of the game people ask "where is the challenge? I'm experiencing the same gameplay over and over again." This is were antagonist come into play. They put it in the game for that challenge. For that little bit of spice to not feel like your just repeating the same thing over and over.

I am not saying antagonist missions are flawless there are problems that should be address. For example if the antagonist has a low mmr the adds can just one shot the raider and basically guarantee the antag a win. Some missions should be reworked to where the antagonist cant just kill an objective or shut down a path the raiders need to cross to win. Also there should be a more match making friendly matching (I didn't know how else to phrase this). Make it were a tier 1 antagonist cannot join nothing but tier 6s. Completely cutting out antagonist or giving the same rewards for those who leave antagonist option off would make less sense.

Allow me to translate what you really mean here. "I personally like this system that is literally responsible for killing the game since virtually everybody else hates it. I don't care that it's objectively bad and ruins the entire game, it's fun for me so that's all that matters!" You're just jumping through hoops and trying to justify being selfish and wanting to put your own fun over everybody else's and even the health and life of the game itself. Your ideology is toxic and hurts the community.

Spacelords Universe / Re: MSE PLAYER BASE

Marcus man I agree with you 100% but it's seriously time for you to just delete the game and quit playing. It really isn't worth the anger, the frustration, and it's damn sure not worth some dumb pointless platinum trophy on your account that means nothing. There's so many other games to play and so many other things to do besides let yourself get pushed to this type of rage.

Spacelords Universe / Re: FIX THE MATCHMAKING!!!!!!!!!!
 on: July 19, 2019, 01:17:28 AM
This game has been in blatant cash grab mode for a while now. The devs can see the data and know the lifespan of Spacelords is quickly running out so their only concern is creating more paywalls for the people still playing so they can at least make a quick buck before it shuts down. It genuinely amazes me at this point when I see anybody defend Spacelordd or MSE at this point. How short sighted do you have to be to be incapable of seeing where this game is going at this point?

Spacelords Universe / Re: Where are the experienced players?

I quit playing months ago despite absolutely loving the game when I first picked it and being passionate about the potential it had to be something truly incredible. Why did I quit? Super easy to answer. The playerbase had been almost entirely in unison telling the devs exactly how to fix and improve the game to polish it into the gem we all (at the time) knew it could be. The devs instead literally never once listened and instead pandered to the demands of the game's most toxic minority that made up some 5% of the population at best. Then once the playerbase started to nosedive as a result of them seemingly intentionally spitting in the face of their fans they went into cash squeeze mode and since then every update has been designed to create new paywalls and get the few people left to spend more and more money just to have the hope of enjoying the game. I genuinely think MSE knows this game is doomed already and behind the scenes is just trying to figure out how to milk any money they still can from it before it completely shuts down.

Angeles you're exactly one of the 2 or 3 people I was talking about. All you have to do to see the objective truth is just scroll the forum, or even the subreddit, it's complaint after complaint after complaint then you jump into every thread one after the other on some righteous crusade and defend the game and MSE to the death. Your opinion represents the absolute smallest minority of the playerbase and that's an unassailable fact, again, just read what nearly every single other post says or is about. Riding the dev's until you're blue in the face isn't how you change a horribly broken game. It's with honest and open complaints, which soooo many people tried giving for so long until most of them gave up and quit forever. Just look at what a ghost town any forum related to this game is, the facts speak for themselves. When the developers actively ignore the vast majority of the players and do the exact opposite of what their paying customers want from them then they deserve to be criticized harshly. Perhaps enough harsh and honest criticism can keep this game from getting any more screwed and force the devs to actually give up on pushing what they want the game to be vs what the actual players want the game to be. People who just blindly dismiss every criticism and praise the devs for making decisions that actively hurt the game like you (and thankfully there's barely anybody else here like you) are part of the real problem and keep positive change from ever being able to occur.

And as far as being aware of the growth/reduction of the playerbase, again, just look at what an absolute ghost town this forum, the discord, the subreddit, and lack of interest in any videos/streams online. This game is driving people away faster than it is bringing people in, and I really hope I don't have to explain to you why that isn't a sustainable model for any service.

The longer you play this game the harder it is to enjoy it, hell, to not hate it. It punishes you for investing time in it, especially beyond level 100, the balance is non-existent, and while the devs do reply to some threads and make promises it's nothing more than empty lip service. The playerbase is still shrinking with every update, not growing, and for two years the small (and always shrinking) group of active dedicated players have been telling the devs exactly how to fix the game and have gone completely and totally ignored. If you want to play this game play it very casually and don't get invested in it, or you're just gonna end up angry. There are all of literally 2 or 3 people on these forums that just act like this is the best game ever and everything is sunshine and rainbows with it, but like you said yourself read virtually any post at all and it's nothing but entirely justified complaints from people who are beyond frustrated at watching the devs continue to completely ruin an idea with so much potential.

10
Gonna keep it short and sweet, this problem is 100% the devs own fault. They have publicly stated from day 1 on multiple sources such as the subreddit or this very forum that the antag system was intentionally designed to troll people and make them mad. They have also publicly stated they aren't going to change that no matter what and have somehow tried to deny that decision isn't just them letting dumb pride slowly kill their game while they refuse to admit the forced pvp was a huge mistake and is undeniably the #1 reason this game will never get a real playerbase. Despite being a promising game with tons of potential Spacelords will all but certainly fail and be cancelled due to lack of concurrent players. The roadmap speaks for itself, they're ready to not only fall on their own sword but shoot themselves in the foot while they fall.

Gameplay Feedback / Re: This game is BROKEN
 on: March 22, 2019, 01:43:44 PM
I honestly think this game is at the point right now where if the devs don't put their stubborn pride aside and finally listen to the players this game will die by the end of 2019 no matter what. They forgot the most important rule of game design: your game has to be fun. They've been so unable to put their stubborn pride aside and admit they made a massive mistake that is killing their product that their product is nearly dead now. I just can't play this game anymore no matter how much I genuinely want to because having fun is nearly impossible. Whoever thought designing this game around intentionally pissing people off needs to have their degrees revoked and never be hired again anywhere a five year old could have told you that was an absolutely terrible idea. Unless they patch in making pvp optional for players VERY SOON it will be too late and the downward trend in player numbers will doom this game forever. Stop trying to incentivise more people to play the very thing that has ruined your game. Just stop ruining your own game on purpose MSE it's time for you to finally do what every good dev team in history has done and just listen to your players! We pay your bills!

12
There's just a VERY small but stupidly vocal group of dedicated players who will defend the antag system to the death because they personally think it's fun. They'll completely ignore that almost everybody who quits the game quits because of how bad of a system it is and that so many potential players quitting is also the main factor in matchmaking taking forever and barely working. The forced antag system has factually crippled this game, but they have fun fucking over other peoples play experience so they'll still try to say stuff like "there'd be no point in playing without it" or "it adds such a unique and interesting element to the game" instead of just saying what they really mean: "I'm a total asshole who just wants to have fun at not only other peoples expense but eventually the expense of the entire game once it dies from lack of a playerbase." The big issue is that MSE keeps chosing to listen to these handful of players ruining the game rather than listening to the super majority of people begging for them to make PvP optional.

13
They're not going to get rid of the system despite the fact that it is factually hurting the game and has caused thousands if not tens of thousands of potential paying players to quit playing the game, which makes them less money and helps make sure their game will eventually fail and die. It's really simple and I've seen it many times over the years in many games that have failed. A few people with a lot of pull on the team want the antagonist system to succeed so badly because they personally think it's a great idea and they refuse to admit they were wrong and give up on it no matter how much damage it does to their product. You hit the nail on the head when you said that fixing or balancing the antagonist system is not possible as it stands now, no changes will undo the damage it does to the playerbase every day, it's simply a bad idea. Period. As a game developer you should never design any aspect of your game specifically with trolling and pissing people off in mind because as it turns out when you piss people off on purpose they stop playing your game and giving you money. Ojule's reply should tell you everything you need to know: MSE is willing to let Spacelords die sooner than back down from a terrible mistake.

Suggestions / 13.0 matchmaking changes
 on: February 06, 2019, 02:31:01 AM
At just shy of level 170 I have been patient with this game and it's design flaws for a very long time now and put up with a lot of very poor design choices because I could see the potential this game had if only handled properly. I also saw that the developers seemed very active and passionate and that gave me faith that my patience would be rewarded eventually once the devs started really improving the game. The matchmaking changes made in the latest patch 13.0 have me finally genuinely ready to quit this game and never look back.
I never minded mentor matches when they were still broadcasted, I wasn't one of those players who cancelled out of every mentor match to avoid playing with noobs. Everybody is a noob at one point and it's important to remember that and be willing to spend some time helping carry them through their first terribly awkward steps into this game. Let me emphasize one part of my last sentence however: SOME. It's fine to spend some time helping noobs but when 99.9% of your queues turn into exclusively noobs constantly feeding elites/antagonists, not understanding objectives, or not even understanding their characters and the most basic mechanics of the game it becomes a horrific experience trying to just log in and play for fun.
I have no issues at all with still getting matched with a low level team occasionally, heck, even half the time. But as of 13.0 it has genuinely become a matter of knowing for a fact that whenever I log in to play it's exclusively going to be losses, frustrating drawn out barely wins, and having no hope of ever just having a fun match where things feel even remotely fair. You are simply punishing veteran players who have put the most time and dedication into your game and it isn't helping to improve the new players at all. If you drag a level 5 into a 45-50% mmr match they are going to spend the entire match getting slaughtered and hating it. The number non ranked or tier 6 players I've seen disconnect mid match only to never log in again has skyrocketed because you've created a system where both high and low level players alike both become much worse off and have much worse playing experiences due to being forced to play together. The previous system wasn't perfect either but you tried to fix it and broke it far worse than it ever was originally. I'll still log in to play only if my friends are on to play with but I'm done with random queues period until this changes.
